Today we met Dodger and his owner, author Karen Gee.

She read us a story about Dodger and talked about writing her books.

See what we have been up to on our book week blog:

Today our book, Journey to Jo’burg taught us all about the protesting and riots in Soweto, South Africa. We found out about the black children who marched in protest, the violent police officers and the parents in despair. Here are some pictures of us re-enacting the protest and doing freeze frames to share what our characters would be thinking and feeling.

We’ve started reading a new book in Literacy called Journey to Jo’burg. We’ve been doing lots of drama to help us understand the characters and how they might have felt in apartheid South Africa. Here are some pictures of the drama we did.

This afternoon, Rev. Jones from Explore Church Croxley came to teach us all about Christmas and he showed us how to make Christingles!

We had the most fantastic day yesterday learning all about ancient Egypt. We learnt to dance like Egyptians, we ate Egyptian breakfast, learnt about Egyptian maths and writing, and best of all we got to hold and learn about 5000 year old artefacts that Mr Egypt (our visitor) has found over his 40 year career as an Egyptologist.

A huge thank you to parents/carers for the incredible costumes you put together, they really added to our day!

Here are loads of photos of all the fun we had!
