The library ladies from Croxley Green came to assembly to tell us about the summer reading challenge. The challenge is to read 6 books over the school holidays.  You get smelly stickers to add to your wallet to help solve the mystery of the animal agents. Children who complete the challenge will receive a wristband and get invited to a presentation ceremony where you will get a medal.

Have you got a library card? The library service is free to join and it allows you to use all the libraries across Hertfordshire.

Wednesday 28th June 2017

Dear Parents,

The KS2 performance is on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th July. We have been practicing very hard to make it a great show for you all to enjoy.

Our costumes are very simple this year.

Bottoms:

Your child needs to wear black trousers (preferably Harem pants available on Amazon for around £4, search “children’s Harem pants” or click here), jogging bottoms or leggings but these must be plain and without logo please.

Tops:

Your child needs to wear a brightly coloured t-shirt, again plain and without logo. If they do not have one already at home, they can wear their school PE t-shirt (the HRS logo is fine).

Feet:

Your child needs to wear sandals or flip-flops, any colour is acceptable.

Costumes need to be in school by Friday 7th July ready for our dress rehearsal the following Monday. Costumes can be sent into school and kept safe here at any point between now and the 7th July.

If you have any questions then please do come and ask or write a note in your child’s diary. Thank you for your help and support.

Mrs Palfreyman

We have been working very hard in class 4 over the last few weeks to complete the banner for the parade at this years revels! We used collage techniques, painting and a touch of glitter for this Alice in Wonderland masterpiece!

See you on Saturday the 24th June at 12:45 on the green ready for the parade! Don’t forget your costumes!

This afternoon, we were visited by the Croxley and Chorleywood PCSOs. They came to talk to us about anti-social behaviour and its consequences. We learnt lots about what counts as anti-social behaviour such as bullying, graffiti, vandalism and shop-lifting, and the consequences of doing those things including community restoration and service, fines and imprisonment.

They also brought in some police uniforms to try on!

This morning, we all took part in a performance of a play set in the Victorian era. To help us get into characters we has costumes and props, here are some photos of us during the play.

Our topic in art this term is Pop Art and Digital media. We will create all kinds of wonderful masterpieces, but here are a few from today’s lesson.

We looked at work by Andy Warhol and were inspired to create pop-art-portraits by his famous painting of Maralyn Monroe.

Over the coming weeks we will be learning all about playscripts. We had a go at creating a performance using one today based on one of Aesop’s fables “The North Wind and the Sun”. Here are some action shots taken during rehearsals.
